Get to know Ms. Kintala Johnson, an inspiring educational leader dedicated to fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment for Tunica Elementary School students.

Background and Experience

Education: Our elementary principal holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision. She is an alumnus of Coahoma Community College, Delta State University, Mississippi Valley State University, and The University of Mississippi.

Years of Experience: With over 15 years of experience in education, our principal has a deep understanding of elementary school operations, curriculum design, and instructional strategies.

Leadership Skills: Ms. Johnson has served as a classroom teacher for five years, a school librarian for two years, a literacy coach for two years, a middle school curriculum specialist for two years, a high school assistant principal for three years, and an elementary school assistant principal all before becoming a principal. Our educational leader has honed exceptional leadership skills, including effective communication, team building, and conflict resolution.

Passion for Teaching: Our principal's passion for teaching and learning made the transition from a classroom teacher to a school leader. She had a desire to positively impact the lives of all students on a broader scale.

Strong Community Engagement: Building relationships with parents, teachers, and the wider community is a priority for our principal. She actively collaborates with stakeholders to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Academic Excellence: Under Ms. Johnson's leadership, several schools have consistently achieved high academic standards. Her commitment to continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making has led to measurable improvements in student performance.

Innovative Programs: Our principal has spearheaded the implementation of innovative programs to enhance the learning experience for students. From climate and cultural building within the school setting to promoting character development programs, we believe in providing students and teachers with a well-rounded education.

They have championed anti-bullying initiatives and fostered a culture of respect and acceptance among students, staff, and families.

Assistant Principal

Nina Johnson is an Assistant Principal at Tunica Elementary School. She has 3 years of experience in K-12 administration, 15 years of experience as a K-12 educator, and 2 years of experience as a higher education administrator. She is an alumnus of the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL, where she earned a BA in political science. Mrs. Johnson continued her higher education endeavors at The University of Mississippi, earning a MA in Higher Education Administration, an EdS in Educational Leadership K-12, and awaiting an EdD in K-12 Educational Leadership. Her areas of study include teacher leadership, collaborative cultures, collective efficacy, digital curation, professional learning communities, and professional development.

Mrs. Johnson takes pride in being an educator at heart. Her goal is to help enhance the lives of others as they realize and manifest their innate potential through study and experience to bring positive change in the world. Therefore, Mrs. Johnson intentionally pursues developing strong positive working relationships in her professional and personal life. She believes knowledge with care empowers flourishing change.
